Water-wise landscape standards. The following water-wise landscape standards shall apply to all new residential developments and residential construction:
The area within the public right of way between the curb and gutter and the sidewalk, otherwise known as the park strip, shall not be landscaped with lawn or turf.
Lawn or turf areas shall not be less than eight feet wide at their narrowest point.
Lawn or turf areas shall not exceed 50% of the total landscaped area for front and side yards. Lawn limitations do not apply to small residential lots with less than 250 square feet of landscaped area.
Landscape Plan Approval. All new residential development or residential construction shall submit a landscaping plan to be reviewed as part of the associated building permit review and approval process. The landscaping plan will need show compliance with the water-wise landscaping standards listed in this section.
