Orange City City Zoning Code

165.10 BOUNDARIES

AND OFFICIAL ZONING MAPS.

The boundaries of these districts are indicated and established as shown upon maps designated as the “Official Zoning Maps of the City of Orange City, Iowa,” which, with all their notations, designations, references, and other matters shown thereon, shall be as much a part of this chapter as if fully described and set forth herein. The Official Zoning Maps shall be identified by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk under the following words:
“This is to certify that these are the Official Zoning Maps referred to in Section 165.10 of the City of Orange City Zoning Regulations, adopted on this _____ day of _______, 20__.”
Amendments, supplements, or changes of the boundaries of districts as shown on the Official Zoning Maps shall be made by an ordinance amending the “Zoning Regulations of the City of Orange City, Iowa.” The amending ordinance shall refer to the Official Zoning Map and shall set out the identification of the area affected by legal description and identify the zoning district as the same exists and the new district designation applicable to said property. Said ordinance shall, after adoption and publication, be recorded by the County Recorder as other ordinances and a certified copy thereof be attached to the Official Zoning Maps. Such amendatory ordinance shall, however, not repeal or reenact said map, but only amend it. The Official Zoning Maps, together with amending ordinances (as listed in the following Editor’s Note), shall be the final authority as to current zoning status of land and water areas, buildings, and other structures in the incorporated areas of the City.
In the event that the Official Zoning Maps are damaged, destroyed, lost or difficult to interpret because of the nature or number of changes and additions, the City Council may, by ordinance, adopt new Official Zoning Maps which shall supersede the prior Official Zoning Maps. The new Official Zoning Maps may correct drafting or other errors or omissions in the prior Official Zoning Maps, but no such correction shall have the effect of amending the original Zoning Ordinance of the City or any subsequent amendment thereof.

EDITOR’S NOTE
Ordinance No. 833 adopted February 21, 2022, adopting a new Official Zoning Map and amendments thereto have not been included as a part of this Code of Ordinances, but have been specifically saved from repeal and are in full force and effect. The following ordinances have been adopted amending Ordinance No. 833 amending the Official Zoning Map of the City.
