PLANT LIST7
Prohibited Invasive Aquatic Plants
Certain invasive species that can threaten natural resources and their use have been designated as prohibited invasive species in Minnesota. It is unlawful (a misdemeanor) to possess, import, purchase, transport, or introduce these species except under a permit for disposal, control, research, or education. The prohibited invasive species in Minnesota include the following and any hybrids, cultivars, or varieties of the species:
* These species are known to be in Minnesota waters.
Prohibited Invasive and unlisted Non-Native Plants
Regulated and unlisted non-native species are legal to possess, sell, buy, and transport, but they may not be introduced into a free-living state, such as being released or planted in public waters:
* These species are known to be in Minnesota waters.
Prohibited Invasive and Non-Native Plants
Invasive and non-native plants cause or may cause economic or environmental harm or harm to human health; or threatens or may threaten natural resources or the use of natural resources in Minnesota. Invasive and non-native plants have an advantage because the insects, diseases, and animals that would normally keep their populations in control are not found in Minnesota and are able to spread at varying rates because they have developed specialized mechanisms to survive. These plants crowd out native vegetation, add to problems with erosion, diminish forage production on land that is used by domestic and wild animals and impact the public in many negative ways:
