58 - HOME OCCUPATIONS
A.
Intent and Purpose. The purpose of these regulations is to provide for the conduct of home occupations in residential zones, in such a manner as to be compatible with, and not disrupt residential neighborhoods.
B.
Home Occupations May be Permitted. As specified in this chapter subject to the following conditions:
1.
Employment shall be limited to members of the resident family only.
2.
There shall be no alteration in the residential character of the premises in connection with such home occupation.
3.
All such operations shall be carried on within the dwelling, and not more than twenty-five (25) percent of the ground floor area of the dwelling shall be so used.
4.
Equipment used in connection with such home occupations shall be limited to that normally found in a dwelling, and under no circumstances shall motors other than electric motors be used. The total horsepower, of such motors shall not exceed three horsepower, or one horsepower for any single motor.
5.
No merchandise or articles shall be displayed for advertising purposes, and no merchandise or articles shall be stored other than in the dwelling.
6.
No signs or advertising devices shall be displayed on the premises.
7.
The use shall not involve the use of commercial vehicles for delivery of materials to or from the premises.
8.
All operations in connection with such home occupations shall be conducted so as to prevent the emanation of any dust, gas, smoke, noise, fumes, odors, vibrations, or electrical disturbances which are or may be detrimental to the welfare of the occupants of surrounding properties.
C.
Cottage Food Operations. A cottage food operation, as defined in California Health and Safety Code Section 113758, shall be a permitted home based business provided it complies with all applicable provisions of Chapter 17.89 and the California Health and Safety Code, as it may be amended.
