CHAPTER XII

PERMITS AND CERTIFICATES OF OCCUPANCY

§ 12.01 Building permit.

The building official shall issue no building permit unless the applicant for the permit has submitted the plans for approval. If the plans are in compliance with all requirements, regulations, and provisions of this ordinance and all other applicable regulations, a building permit will be issued by the building official to the applicant. The permit is acknowledgement that there is compliance with the requirements, regulations and provisions of this ordinance.

§ 12.02 Water and sewer permit.

Necessary water and sewer permits and/or certificates must be obtained from the water board. WCID # [Harris County Water Control and Improvement District No.] 50 rules, regulations and standards must be met before a certificate of occupancy or building permit can be issued.

§ 12.03 Certificate of occupancy.

No building hereafter erected or structurally altered and no land hereafter occupied or used shall be used, occupied, or changed in use and no building previously erected or land occupied or used shall be changed in use, until a certificate of occupancy has been issued by the building official stating that the building or premises complies with the requirements for occupancy. A certificate of occupancy may be issued upon an inspection made pursuant to the building code.

§ 12.04 Permits for marinas, piers and bulkheads.

All marinas, piers and some bulkheads must have a permit [United States Army] from the Texas State General Land Office and the [United States Army] Corps of Engineers before a marina, pier or bulkhead is built. Contact the general land office for information. All permits must be on file with the El Lago City Office before any construction can take place.
