CHAPTER 14

B-3 SERVICE AND WHOLESALE DISTRICT

10-14-1: PERMITTED USES:

The following business uses and service establishments, provided they are conducted wholly within an enclosed building, except for off street parking or loading facilities and except for establishments of the drive-in type, offering goods and services directly to customers waiting in parked motor vehicles, and except where specified below as permitted on an open lot:
Any use permitted in the B-2 business district.
Agricultural implement sales and services, on an open lot or within a building.
Automobile washing, including the use of mechanical conveyors, blowers and steam cleaning devices.
Battery and tire service stations.
Beverages, nonalcoholic, bottling and distributing.
Bicycle and motorcycle sales and repair.
Book binding.
Building materials sales, when conducted wholly within a building.
Contractors' offices and shops, where no fabrication is done on the premises and where all storage of materials and equipment is within a building.
Feed and seed stores, wholesale.
Greenhouses.
Heating and air conditioning (fabricating and assembly) shops.
Pet shops, or animal hospitals when conducted wholly within an enclosed building.
Plumbing and heating and roofing supply shops.
Printing, publishing and issuing of periodicals, books, stationery and other reading matter.
Processing or assembly limited to the following, provided that space occupied in a building does not exceed six thousand (6,000) square feet of total floor space and basement space, and not including stairwells or elevator shafts; and provided such processing or assembly can be conducted without noise, vibration, odor, dust or any other condition which might be disturbing to occupants of adjacent buildings. When manufacturing operations of the same or similar products demand space exceeding six thousand (6,000) square feet, they shall then be located in the I-1 industrial district.
Advertising displays.
Awnings, venetian blinds and window shades.
Bakeries, wholesale.
Brushes and brooms.
Cosmetics, drugs and perfumes.
Electrical equipment appliances.
Food processing, packaging and distribution.
Jewelry.
Medical and dental supplies.
Optical goods and equipment.
Pattern making.
Products from finished materials such as bone, cloth, cork, feathers, felt, fibre, fur, glass, hair, horn, leather, plastic, precious or semiprecious stones, paper, rubber, shell or yarn.
Scientific and precision instruments.
Taxidermist shops.
Tinsmiths.
Trailer sales or rental (house trailers) business on an open lot or within a building, not including occupancy of trailers.
Undertaking establishments.
Warehousing and wholesale establishments.

10-14-2: SPECIAL USES:

The following uses may be allowed by special use permit in accordance with the provisions of chapter 22 of this title:
Any use which may be allowed as a special use in the B-2 general retail business district.
Apartment houses, row houses and similar multiple-family dwellings, provided the yard areas and lot coverage comply with those required in the R-6 multiple-family dwelling district.
Boarding or rooming houses, provided the yard areas and lot coverage comply with those required in the R-6 multiple-family dwelling district.
Dog kennels (commercial).
Lodging rooms, provided the yard areas and lot coverage comply with those required in the R-6 multiple-family dwelling district. (Ord. B-39, 1969; amd. Ord. C-243, 7-5-1995; Ord. C-250, 11-21-1995)

10-14-3: HEIGHT OF BUILDINGS:

The same regulations shall apply as required in the B-1 limited retail business district. (Ord. B-39, 1969)

10-14-4: YARD AREAS:

   A.   Front Yard: A front yard of not less than twenty five feet (25').
   B.   Side Yards: Side yards of not less than ten feet (10').
   C.   Rear Yard: A rear yard of not less than twenty feet (20'). (Ord. C-417, 5-3-2005)

10-14-5: SIGNS:

The erection, construction, alteration and location of signs, other advertising structures, marquees and awnings shall be in conformity with the provisions of chapter 18 of this title. (Ord. B-39, 1969)

10-14-6: OFF STREET PARKING AND LOADING FACILITIES:

Off street parking and loading facilities shall be provided as permitted or required in chapter 19 of this title. (Ord. B-39, 1969)
