23: - AIR QUALITY
The purpose of this section is to ensure that the impacts of development on air quality in the Telluride region are adequately mitigated.
Installation of solid-fuel burning devices, including woodstoves and open fireplaces, is prohibited in the Telluride Air Quality Region as illustrated in map below. However, all solid-fuel burning device permits issued prior to June 4, 1992, the effective date of this provision, shall be honored, except where limited by later property-specific agreements.

For the purposes of this section the following definitions apply:
Solid Fuel Burning Device
Free-standing fireplace, airtight stove, Franklin stove, conventional masonry fireplace, any similar fireplace whose operation requires that it be built into a structure, or a fireplace insert or any other device intended for heating interior habitable space through the burning of a solid fuel such as, but not limited to, wood, biomass or coal, including "fireplaces" and woodstoves".

The area as mapped below for purposes of furthering County Air Quality Regulations; the area previously identified as the 1989 Telluride Regional Area Master Plan boundaries.
