- AUTHORITY, ENACTMENT CLAUSE, SCOPE AND APPLICABILITY
The city council of the City of Tarrant, Alabama, in pursuance of the authority granted by Title 11, Chapter 52, Article 4, Code of Alabama, 1975, hereby ordains and enacts into law the following articles and sections.
This ordinance shall be known as and may be cited as "The Zoning Ordinance of the City of Tarrant, Alabama."
The regulations and zones as herein set forth are made in accordance with a comprehensive plan for the purposes of guiding development to meet existing and future needs and to protect, promote and improve the public health, safety, convenience, order, prosperity and general welfare of the residents. These regulations are designed to lessen vehicular congestion; to secure safety from fire, panic and other dangers; to promote health and the general welfare; to provide adequate light and air; to prevent overcrowding of land, to avoid undue concentration of population; to facilitate the provision of transportation, water, drainage, sewerage, parks schools, and other public requirements. These regulations are made with reasonable consideration, among other things, of the character of each zone and its peculiar suitability for particular uses, and with a view to promoting desirable living conditions and the sustainability of neighborhoods, protecting prosperity against blight and depreciation, security, economy in governmental expenditures, and conserving the value of land, buildings and structures.
No building, structure, or land shall hereafter be used or occupied and no building, structure or part thereof shall hereafter be erected, constructed, reconstructed, moved or structurally altered unless in conformity with all regulations of the ordinance for the zone in which it is located except as otherwise provided herein.
