The overlay districts established by this article 2 supplement the use regulations and/or development standards of the applicable underlying base zone, where important site, neighborhood, or area characteristics require particular attention in project planning. In the event of a conflict between the regulations of the underlying base zoning district and the overlay zoning district, the provisions of the overlay zoning district shall govern. The provisions of this chapter shall apply to all projects located in a designated overlay district. (Ord. 253, 12-16-2014)

The following are the overlay districts:

   Airport safety overlay district

   Fire safety overlay district

   Floodplain safety overlay district

   Geologic and seismic hazards overlay district

   Hillside overlay district

   Large animal overlay district

   Specific plan overlay district

Overlay district(s) shall be designated by a representative symbol on the zoning map along with the base zoning district with which it is combined. See table 2-24 of this section for overlay districts zoning map designator:
