47 - FOREST PRODUCTS OVERLAY OZ-FP DISTRICT
Historically, timber and timber products have been an integral part of the Darrington community. Therefore, this district implements the forest products overlay zoning designation, which is intended to protect the land uses which are currently or will in the future be utilized by timber related industries. As an overlay district, the OZ-FP district may be combined with any other district established by this title, and the provisions of this chapter shall be in addition to the provision for the underlying district.

The following uses are permitted outright within the OZ-FP district, subject to compliance with all other applicable requirements of this Code:
A.
Basic wood processing, including such operations as sawmills, planing mills, shake mills and the primary preserving, veneering or laminating of wood;
B.
Log yard and sawdust/by-product storage and disposal;
C.
Commercial and retail uses associated with manufacturing, storage and processing of timber;
D.
Tree farming.

The following uses may be allowed within the OZ-FP district, subject to the requirements, procedures, and conditions established by the conditional use permits chapter of this title:
A.
Co-generation facilities for the conversion of wood waste into electrical energy that are an accessory use to a wood products facility.

All timber related industries shall conform to the development standards of the underlying zone.
