- TITLE OF ORDINANCE, ESTABLISHMENT OF DISTRICTS, PROVISIONS FOR OFFICIAL MAP
This ordinance and its accompanying zoning map shall be known, cited as and referred to as the "Denham Springs Zoning Ordinance," except as referred to herein where it may be known as "this ordinance."

All the area within the corporate limits of Denham Springs, Louisiana is hereby divided into districts, as shown on the official zoning map of the city which, together with all explanatory matter thereon, is hereby adopted by reference and declared to be a part of this ordinance. These districts are as follows:

The official zoning map of the city, also referred to as the Official Zoning Map shall be identified by the signature of the mayor and attested to by the city clerk, after the following statement: "This is to certify that this is the Official Zoning Map of the City of Denham Springs referred to in Section 1.03 of the Denham Springs Zoning Ordinance."

Changes made in the district boundaries or other matter portrayed on the official zoning map, in accordance with the provisions of this ordinance, shall be made on the official zoning map promptly after the zoning amendment has been approved by the board of aldermen. It will be the duty of the city clerk to file with the office of planning and development a copy of the ordinance amending the official zoning map within 15 days after such amending ordinance is adopted by the board of aldermen, published in the official journal and properly recorded at the Livingston Parish Clerk of Court's Office.
It will be the duty of the director of the office of planning and development to record the district boundary change on the official zoning map and to record on a separate log the date, ordinance number, Rezoning Case No., etc., of all rezoning cases. Changes effected in the official zoning map by ordinance will be entered on the map by the city engineer in January and July of each year for the preceding six-month period in each case. Regardless of the existence of maps purported to be copies of the official zoning map, the final authority as to the current zoning status of land, buildings, and other structures shall be the official zoning map which shall be located in the office of planning and development of the city.

When an ordinance is adopted which amends the text of the zoning ordinance, it will be the duty of the city clerk to prepare an addendum to the zoning ordinance text and transmit a suitable number of copies to the director of planning and development. It will be the duty of the director to stamp "amend, see addendum #______" over each amended section of the zoning text for all undistributed copies of the text.

1.06.1 Provisions of this ordinance. In interpreting and applying the provisions of this ordinance, they shall be held to be the minimum requirements for the promotion of the public health, safety, convenience and general welfare. Where the provisions of this ordinance impose greater restrictions than those of any statute, other ordinance or regulation, the provisions of this ordinance shall be controlling. Where the provisions of any statute, other ordinance of regulation impose greater restrictions than this ordinance, the provisions of such statute, other ordinance or regulations shall be controlling.
1.06.2 District boundaries. Where uncertainty exists as to the boundaries shown on the official zoning map, the following rules shall apply:
1.
Boundaries indicated as approximately following the center lines of streets, highways, or alleys, shall be constructed to follow such lines.
2.
Boundaries indicated as approximately following platted lot lines, shall be construed as following such lot lines.
3.
Boundaries indicated as approximately following city limits, shall be construed as following city limits.
4.
Boundaries indicated as following railroads lines, shall be construed to be midway between the main tracks.
5.
Boundaries indicated as following shore lines, shall be construed to follow such shore lines and, in the event of change of the shore line, shall be construed as moving with actual shore line.
6.
Boundaries indicated as parallel to or extensions of features indicated in subsections one through five above, shall be so construed. Distances not specifically indicated on the official zoning map shall be determined by the scale of the map.
7.
Where the street or property layout existing on the ground is at variance with that shown on the official zoning map, or in other circumstances not covered by subsections one through six above, the zoning commission shall interpret the district boundaries.

Where a district boundary divides a lot existing at the time this ordinance takes effect, the zoning commission will designate the district boundary as it deems applicable.
