PURPOSE
The zoning regulations and districts herein established have been made in accordance with a comprehensive plan for the purpose of promoting the orderly development of the Town, the preservation of the aesthetic quality of the area, and the health, safety, morals and general welfare of the inhabitants of the Town of Hickory Creek, Texas. The zoning regulations and districts have been designed to lessen congestion in the streets; to secure safety from fire, panic and crowding of land; to avoid undue concentration of population; to facilitate the adequate provision of transportation, water, sewage, schools, parks and other public requirements. They have been made with reasonable consideration, among other things, of the character of the district and its peculiar suitability for the particular uses, and with a view of conserving the value of buildings and encouraging the most appropriate use of the land throughout the community.
That from and after the passage of this ordinance, it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to commence the construction of any structure or the construction of any alterations or repairs to any existing structure within the jurisdiction of the Town of Hickory Creek, Texas, or move any structure from without the jurisdiction to within the jurisdiction of the Town, or move any structure from within the jurisdiction to without the jurisdiction of the Town, or move any structure within the jurisdiction the Town, without first having procured a permit authorizing such construction from the Town Building Official or approval from the Town Council of the Town of Hickory Creek, Texas as required herein.
This ordinance shall be construed to be consistent with prior ordinances insofar as possible to reconcile and effectuate the purposes and principles of these ordinances. In the event this ordinance conflicts with prior ordinances and/or cannot be reconciled, then to the extent that prior ordinances conflict with or are inconsistent with this ordinance, said prior ordinances are repealed.
