44 A-P-COMBINING AIRPORT DISTRICT
§ 17.44.010 Purpose.
The purpose of the A-P district is to regulate and restrict the height of structures and also of objects of natural growth and otherwise regulate the use of property in the vicinity of airports, by creating airport approach zones, transition zones, horizontal and conical surfaces and establishing the boundaries thereof.
The following regulations shall apply in all districts with which A-P is combined.

§ 17.44.020 Uses permitted.
Any use allowed in the district with which the A-P district is combined subject to the restrictions set out in the respective districts and sections.

§ 17.44.030 Zones designated.
(a)
In order to carry out the purposes of this chapter, all land within the vicinity of the landing area of any airport is divided into approach zones, transition zones, horizontal and conical surfaces, in accordance with “Standards for Determining Obstructions to Air Navigation” prepared by the Federal Aviation Agency which is adopted and made a part hereof.
(b)
Such approach zones, transition zones, horizontal and conical surfaces shall not become effective unless and until the adoption of an airport zoning map or maps delineating such approach zones, transition zones, horizontal and conical surfaces and height limits therefor, in the vicinity of the landing area of the airport. The airport zoning map shall be adopted in the same manner as the ordinance codified herein, shall be made a part hereof and shall be subject to amendments made pursuant to the law. Such amendments shall be entered on the airport zoning maps and the same shall be maintained up to date at all times.

§ 17.44.040 Maximum height limits.
Except as otherwise provided in this title, no building, structure or tree shall be erected, altered, allowed to grow or be maintained in any airport approach zone, transition zone, horizontal and conical surfaces, to a height in excess of the height limit specified for such zone as delineated upon the airport zoning map. Notwithstanding any other provision of this section or of this chapter, no building shall be more than two stories, nor more than thirty feet in height.

§ 17.44.050 Uses restricted.
Notwithstanding any other provisions of the district with which this district is combined, no use may be made of land within any airport approach zones, airport transition zones, horizontal and conical surfaces, in such a manner as to create harmful electrical interference with radio communication between the airport and aircraft, make it difficult for flyers to distinguish between airport lights and other lights, result in harmful glare in the eyes of the flyers using the airport, impair visibility in the vicinity of the airport or otherwise endanger the landing, take-off or maneuvering of aircraft.

§ 17.44.060 Nonconforming uses.
Nonconforming uses shall be subject to the provisions of Chapter 17.58.
