There is hereby established an Open Space / Agriculture District and the standards and regulations by which certain uses may be permitted therein. [Ord. 659 §12, 2012.]

The purpose of the Open Space / Agriculture District is to limit development on lands impacted wholly or in large measure by sensitive environmental features, such as wetlands and floodplains, or natural hazard areas, such as lands impacted by sediment containing naturally occurring asbestos carried and deposited by the Sumas River, where urban development has the potential to adversely impact such sensitive environmental features or pose a threat to public health and safety and where uses other than open space and agriculture would be inappropriate. It is also the purpose of the district to establish open space corridors within and between urban growth areas and adjacent to agricultural lands of long-term commercial significance. The uses permitted within the Open Space/Agriculture District are as follows:

The following conditional uses may be permitted within the Open Space / Agriculture District by the City Council upon application and in accordance with Chapter 19.56:
