A.

A zoning administrator appointed by the city council shall administer and enforce this title. The administrator shall also be responsible for the administration, enforcement, and regulation of all structures located upon city streets which shall be governed by the municipal code. The zoning administrator may be provided with the assistance of such other persons as the city council may direct.

If the zoning administrator finds any of the provisions of this title being violated, the administrator shall notify in writing the person responsible for such violations, indicating the nature of the violation and ordering the action necessary to correct it. The administrator shall order discontinuance of illegal buildings or structures or of additions, alterations, or structural changes thereto, discontinuance of any illegal work being done, or shall take any other action authorized by this title to ensure compliance with or to prevent violation of its provisions.

There is created the office of zoning administrator, and such office is charged with the duty of enforcing the provisions of this title.

Appeals from any decision of the zoning administrator which pertain solely to the provisions of this title shall be taken to the board of adjustment as provided in Chapter 17.28.
