The public (P) land-use category designates locations for public buildings, grounds, and facilities. Designation of an area in the public category signifies the expectation means that the area will continue to be put to public use for at least five (5) years so long as it is designated "public". Sites designated in the category shall not be used for other than public purposes without the approval of the Town Commission after careful consideration of the most appropriate nonpublic use and a properly enacted amendment to the Town's Future Land Use Plan and Zoning Code.

(a)
Permitted uses. Permitted uses in District P shall be only those uses related to public buildings, grounds and facilities for the benefit of the general public.
(b)
Special exception uses.
(1)
Telecommunications antennas—See Article IV of Chapter 62 for additional requirements (section 62-64 sets forth height limitations which may be exceeded by a maximum of nine and one-half percent (9.5%) if approved with the special exception).
