ARTICLE 7

- CAMPERS, MOTOR HOMES AND TRAVEL TRAILERS; BEACHES

7-1.- Campers, motor homes and travel trailers.

7-1.1

Purpose. To promote the safety and welfare of the citizens and visitors of the Town of Pawleys Island neither campers, motor homes, nor travel trailers may be parked on Pawleys Island. This prohibition includes parking such vehicles, or residing in them on Pawleys Island, but excluding the following circumstances:

(A)

Residents of the Town of Pawleys Island who own a vehicle as defined above may store their vehicle under their home or in close proximity to their house. Store shall be defined as "to reserve or put away for future use";

(B)

If a guest of a full time resident has a vehicle as defined above, that vehicle may be parked under or in close proximity to the full time resident's house for the duration of that guest's stay. However, said vehicle may not be used or lived in while parked at the resident's home; and,

(C)

It is a violation of this regulation to reside in or use the vehicles provided for in subsection (A) or (B) of this section when they are parked or stored on Pawleys Island.

7-1.2

Towing. Violators of this regulation may have their vehicle or camper towed and stored at a location outside the town limits and the violator will be responsible for payment of the costs associated with towing and storage, in addition to the penalties described in section 1-7 of this Unified Development Code.

7-2. - Beach sand removal.

7-2.1

Removal of beach compatible sand prohibited. It shall be unlawful to remove any beach compatible sand from within the town limits of Pawleys Island.

7-3. - Stormwater discharge onto beach.

7-3.1

Prohibition of discharge to the beach. It shall be unlawful to channel stormwater discharge onto the beachfront.

7-5.7

Inspection of premises. The Town of Pawleys Island's designated representative is hereby authorized to access any property for the purpose of inspecting and enforcing the provisions of these regulations.

(A)

Removal from private premises. The town's authorized agents are hereby authorized to enter into and upon any lot, ground or possession within the town of any person and thoroughly examine the same. Whenever such agent shall have cause to suspect that any foul or noxious odor originates or is collected in any house, or in any enclosure whatever, shut up from public view, he may direct the same to be opened and ventilated or the cause of such odor to be removed, as it may be deemed necessary.

Any person who creates a common nuisance, as defined herein, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. The magistrate may cause to be abated any common nuisance as defined. This section shall be cumulative in its effect and shall not be construed to repeal any existing ordinances in regard to nuisances.
