Administration
Administrative officer. It shall be the duty of the building inspector to enforce the provisions of this ordinance, and to refuse to issue any building permit for any building or structure which would violate any of the provisions hereof. The building inspector is hereby authorized to prosecute or bring any proceedings in a proper court in the name of the City of Sheridan against person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordinance, and in case any building or structure is erected, constructed, reconstructed, altered, converted or maintained, or any building, structure or land is used in violation of this ordinance, said building inspector is hereby authorized and directed to institute any appropriate action or proceedings to prevent such unlawful erection, maintenance, construction, alteration, conversion or use; to restrain, correct or abate such violation and to prevent any illegal conduct or use on or about the premises. No oversight or failure on the part of the building inspector or his authorized assistants or on the part of any official or employee of the City of Sheridan shall legalize, authorize or excuse the violation of any of the provisions hereof.
Building permits. The erection, alteration, removal, construction, reconstruction, conversion, use or maintenance of any building or premises, as provided or restricted by this ordinance shall not be commenced or proceeded with except after the issuance of a written permit for the same by the building inspector. The building permit shall state that the proposed use of the land or building complies with provisions of this ordinance.
Plats. All applications for building permits shall be accompanied by a plat in duplicate showing the lot to be built upon, the location of the building on the lot, accurate dimensions of the building and lot, number of families to be housed, if any, and such other information as may be necessary to provide for the enforcement of this ordinance. A careful record of the original copy of such application and plat shall be kept in the office of the building inspector. At the time the application is made for the building permit, the lot corners of the lot to be built upon must be established to the satisfaction of the building inspector.
