CHAPTER 8

- Special Purpose Districts

9-8-1.- P Public district.

A.

Purpose. The P Public District is intended to accommodate land and facilities within the Village that are owned and operated by the local, state, or federal government, and are used in the provision of governmental or public services.

B.

Uses. Chapter 9 lists allowed principal, temporary, and accessory uses for the P District.

C.

Dimensional standards. Table 8-1: P Public District Dimensional Standards establishes the dimensional standards for the P District. These regulations apply to all uses within each district unless a different standard is listed for a specific use.

Off-street parking and loading. See Chapter 11 for off-street parking and loading standards and requirements.

Landscape. See Chapter 12 for landscape, buffering, and screening standards and requirements.

4.

Signs. See Chapter 13 for sign standards.

9-8-2. - OS Open space district.

A.

Purpose. The OS Open Space District is intended to accommodate and protect large open space and public recreation facilities, both indoor and outdoor. Large open space resources may include both passive and active recreation areas, as well as related ancillary uses such as cultural or interpretive facilities, and performance venues.

B.

Uses. Chapter 9 lists allowed principal, temporary, and accessory uses for the OS District.

C.

Dimensional standards. Table 8-2: OS Open Space District Dimensional Standards establishes the dimensional standards for the OS District. These regulations apply to all uses within each district unless a different standard is listed for a specific use.

9-8-3. - OCO O'Hare corridor business opportunity overlay district.

A.

Purpose. The OCO O'Hare Corridor Business Opportunity Overlay District is intended to accommodate those activities which by their nature may be incompatible with existing businesses and surrounding residential areas within the Village. The district is intended to provide for such activities while ensuring standards are in place to mitigate any potential external impacts.

B.

Applicability. The OCO O'Hare Corridor Business Opportunity Overlay District may be established on any property within the I-2 District.

C.

Dimensional standards. The dimensional standards of the underlying zoning district control within the overlay district area.

D.

Uses. The uses of the underlying zoning district control within the overlay district, with the exception of additional permitted and conditional uses allowed within the use matrix of Chapter 9 and the applicable use standards.

E.

General standards.
