CHAPTER 18

24.- GENERAL BUSINESS DISTRICT GBD

18.24.010 - Purpose.

The general business district is established to provide a focal area for retail business within the town. It is intended to be or to become an area of attached, multistory with nearly total lot coverage and fire resistant construction. Businesses in this area depend primarily on on-street or municipal parking and pedestrian circulation.

18.24.020 - Uses of right.

Uses of right shall be retail businesses, professional offices, and public uses compatible with a central business district location excepting retail businesses which have open materials handling or storage yards or open sales area or which require a permit under the provisions of the International Fire Code.

18.24.030 - Conditional uses.

Dwelling units located above or in back with separate living quarters of retail businesses or professional offices, warehouses (provided these do not front on main street), and any retail business or professional office requiring a permit under the provisions of the International Fire Code.

18.24.040 - Relationship to building codes.

The general business district is concurrent with fire zone No. 1 established in the International Building Code.

18.24.050 - Performance standards.

The following performance standards apply to all uses in the central business zoning district:

A.

Any business or office which contributes toxic substances, heavy metals, or other unusual wasteloads to the town's sewerage system shall provide adequate pretreatment before such wastes enter the sewerage system;

B.

All structures shall be set back at least ten feet from the curbline and in alignment with the adjoining building on each side.
