The purpose of the R-A zone is to provide for single-family residential development and the proper use of those lands best suited for agricultural purposes. The R-A zone may also be used as a transitional classification for open or agricultural land pending classification for a more permanent use.

The following uses are permitted in any R-A zone:

A.

Principal uses:

1.

Single-family detached dwellings;

B.

Accessory uses:

1.

Accessory buildings including storage rooms, bathhouses, cabanas, laundry rooms or similar structures. All other accessory structures, including attached and detached accessory dwelling units, shall be subject to the development standards set forth in Section 17.10.280,

2.

Horsekeeping per Chapter 17.68 of this code,

3.

Animal keeping per Chapter 17.68 of this code,

4.

Up to three household pets and their offspring under four months of age,

5.

Noncommercial horticulture and agriculture crops and stock including sorting, processing and packing of crops and stock grown on the same lot,

6.

Day care for twelve or fewer children provided such homes are licensed by the state,

7.

Off-street parking facilities,

8.

Signs per Chapter 17.62 of this code.
