ORIGINAL TOWN

BUSINESS HISTORIC DISTRICT

§ 156.240 GENERALLY.

   The area included shall be that area generally referred to as the Original Town of North Platte, bordered on the south by A Street, to the north by Front Street, from Vine Street to Chestnut Street, including the areas around the Lincoln County Courthouse and Downtown North Platte, more particularly described within Attachment "A" set forth on the following page, a map of the Original Town Business Historic District outlined within the red boundary lines and dated July, 2017, is hereby designated as the City of North Platte Original Town Business Historic District under § 33.07 (H) of this Code.

§ 156.241 NATURE OF THE DISTRICT.

   The City of North Platte Original Town Business Historic District consists of a plat of the Original Town of North Platte which was first established in 1867 by General Dodge of the Union Pacific Railroad. Original Town connected residential to the Original Town Business district, which include the Lincoln County Courthouse, the Post Office /Federal Building, the Carnegie Library and the Historic Lincoln Highway. There are numerous commercial and residential buildings that continue to maintain historical significance. The historic district contains a collection of late nineteenth and early twentieth century commercial and residential buildings that represent the architectural and cultural legacy of North Platte, Lincoln County, Nebraska. The architectural and historic characteristics of the City of North Platte Original Town Business Historic District are hereby deemed significant and worthy of preservation.
