§ 156.430 ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICIAL.

   An administrative official designated by the Mayor and City Council shall administer and enforce this chapter. He or she may be provided with the assistance of such other persons as the Mayor may direct.

§ 156.431 ENFORCEMENT.

   If the administrative official shall find that any of the provisions of this chapter are being violated, he or she shall notify, in writing, the person responsible for the violation, indicating the nature of the violation and ordering the action necessary to correct it. He or she shall order discontinuance of illegal use of land, buildings or structures; removal of illegal buildings or structures or of illegal additions, alterations or structural changes; or discontinuance of any illegal work being done; or shall take any action authorized by this chapter to ensure compliance with or to prevent violation of its provisions.

§ 156.999 PENALTY; ADDITIONAL REMEDIES.

   (A)   Any person who violates, disobeys, omits, neglects or refuses to comply with or who resists the enforcement of any of the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction, be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be fined not more than $500 and the cost of prosecution, for each offense. Each day that the violation continues shall constitute a separate offense.
   (B)   In case any building or structure is erected, constructed, reconstructed, altered, repaired, converted or maintained, or a building, structure or land is used in violation of this chapter, the city, in addition to other remedies, may institute appropriate action or proceedings to prevent the unlawful erection, alteration, maintenance or use, or to correct or abate the violations, or to prevent the occupancy of the building, structure or land.
