PREFACE

This Code constitutes a publication of the general and permanent development ordinances of Beaufort, South Carolina.

The source material used in the preparation of this republication was The Beaufort Code, which is based on an initial code collaboration prepared by Opticos Design, Inc. for Beaufort County, the City of Beaufort, and the Town of Port Royal, as adopted on June 27, 2017 and amended on July 25, 2017 and July 10, 2018. The source of each new section is included in the history note appearing in parentheses at the end thereof. The absence of such a note indicates that the section was adopted with the adoption of The Beaufort Code. By use of the comparative tables appearing in the back of this publication, the reader can locate any section of the Code, as updated.

This Code has been arranged into titles, chapters, and sections. The various sections within each title have been catchlined to facilitate usage.
