§ 35.05

NUMBER OF PARKING SPACES REQUIRED.

At least the following numbers of useable off-street parking spaces shall be provided; also adequate provision for ingress, egress and maneuvering shall be provided.

(A) Residential.

Use	Parking Spaces Required
Fraternities, sororities, dormitories	1 for each 2 active members, plus 1 for the manager and each employee thereof
Hotels, motels, inns and auto courts	1 for each guest room, sleeping room or suite, plus 1 for owner, manager and each employee
Mobile home parks	Subject to mobile home park ordinances
Multiple-family dwellings	2 for each dwelling unit
One- and two-family dwellings	2 provided for each dwelling unit

(B) Commercial uses.

Use	Parking Spaces Required
Automobile laundry	Stacking places to accommodate automobiles equaling number to 5 times maximum capacity of automobile laundry for each washrack, plus 1 for each 2 employees
Automobile or machine sales and service garages	1 for each 1,000 square feet of floor area, plus 1 for each full-time employee
Automobile service stations	2 for each island pumps and each service stall, plus 1 for each employee
Banks and other financial	1 for each 200 square feet of floor area. Drive-in establishment, 6 stacking places per teller, customer service window or ATM machine
Barber shop	2 for each barber chair, plus 1 for each employee
Beauty shop	2 for each chair, plus 1 for each employee at work
Bowling alleys	6 for each alley
Coin-operated laundries and/or dry cleaning establishments	1 for each 3 washers and/or cleaning machines, plus 1 for each employee at work
Funeral home, mortuaries	6 per chapel room or parlor or one for 50 square feet of room used for services whichever is greater, plus 1 for each funeral vehicle kept on premises
Restaurants	1 for each 3 seats, plus 1 for each 2 employees at work at the same time
Restaurants - carry out	1 for each 50 square feet of floor area, plus 1 for each 2 employees at work at the same time
Restaurants - drive in	1 for each 20 square feet of floor area, plus not less than 1/3 of the total ground area be devoted exclusively to parking and accessways
Retail stores - drug, grocery, hardware, convenience and similar stores	1 for each 200 square feet of floor devoted to sales, plus 1 for each full-time employee
Shopper’s goods - appliance, household equipment, furniture and similar stores	1 for each 500 square feet of floor area, plus 1 for each full-time employee
Taverns and bars	1 for each 2 seats, plus 1 for each employee at work
Theaters - indoor	1 for each 4 seats
Theaters - outdoor	Reserved parking spaces at the entrance to the theater shall be provided equal to 10% of the vehicle capacity of the theater

Business and professional offices	1 for each 200 square feet of floor area
Medical or dental clinics	2 for each office, examining room and treatment room, plus 1 for each employee

(D) Industrial use.

Manufacturing plants	1 for each employee on maximum working shift, plus 1 for each vehicle used in conduct or enterprise
Truck terminals	1 for each employee, plus 1 for each truck
Warehouse and storage buildings	1 for each employee, plus 1 for each vehicle used in conduct of enterprise
Wholesale establishments	1 for each employee on maximum work shift

(E) Schools, institutions and places of assembly.

Use	Parking Spaces Required
Auditoriums, gymnasiums, convention halls and all places of assembly with fixed seats	1 for each 3 seats or parking spaces equal to 1/3 capacity of facility in persons
Churches	1 for each 4 seats in principle auditorium
Colleges, universities and trade schools	1 for each 3 students based on maximum number of students facility is designed to handle at 1 time, plus 1 for each employee
Dance halls and assembly halls without fixed seats	A number equivalent to 1/2 the certified fire capacity
Elementary schools Junior high schools	2 for each classroom or 1 for each 4 seats in principal auditorium, whichever is greater
High school	1 for each 4 students based on maximum number of students facility is designed to handle at one time or 1 for each 4 seats in principal auditorium whichever is greater, plus 1 for each employee
Hospitals	1 for each 2 beds, plus 1 for each doctor or visiting doctor 1 for each 2 employees
Library	1 for each 1,000 square feet of floor area
Nursery school	1 for each 4 students, plus 1 for each employee
Nursing home, convalescent home and similar type establishment	1 for each 3 beds, plus 1 for each employee
Private clubs and lodges	Parking spaces equal to 1/3 of capacity of facility in persons

(F) Other uses. For uses not listed heretofore in this schedule of parking requirements, parking spaces shall be provided on the same basis as required for the most similar listed uses, or as determined by the Board.

(G) Plot plan. Any application for a building permit or for a certificate of occupancy shall include therewith a plot plan, drawn to scale and fully dimensioned, showing all parking facilities required by this chapter.
