Ramps and lifts for disabled persons. Access accommodations for handicapped or disabled persons such as ramps and/or lifts may be constructed in the required front, side or rear yards of an existing single- or two-family residence. In the side or rear yard, at least one foot between the property line and the appurtenance shall be provided for ramps and five feet for lifts for maintenance purposes. In the front yard, ramps shall extend no more than ten feet from the front of the structure and shall be accessed only from the private property on which it is located. Ramps shall not be covered with an overhead or roof structure. Encroachments onto easements or rights-of-way shall be permitted only with express permission from the easement or right-of-way owner.
