The purpose of the SZ district shall be to provide an exclusive area for use by elementary and secondary schools and technical colleges, together with customary accessory uses and structures and to create a zone in which auxiliary types of this land use may be engaged in as a conditionally permitted use.

Use of land and construction of principal structures for the use as schools shall be permitted. For purposes of this chapter, "school" shall mean such a facility as is described in the definition set forth at Section 17.04.020 of this code, further described as any public or private facility whose primary purpose is for elementary and secondary schools, technical colleges and theological schools, including their properties, buildings, owned or leased, faculty offices, administrative offices, classrooms, laboratories, chapels, auditoriums, lecture halls, libraries, student and faculty centers, athletic facilities, dormitories, fraternities, and sororities.

Parking lots for automobiles and vehicles used by students, faculty, staff, other school personnel and visitors, school maintenance facilities, storage facilities, heating and cooling facilities and other similar uses incidental to the operation of schools, temporary buildings for construction or classroom purposes for a period not to exceed the projected completion date for the construction of new facilities or improvement of existing facilities.
