CHAPTER 17

60 MINIMUM DRIVEWAYS WIDTHS AND TURNING RADII

§ 17.60.010 Requirements.

A. 
All driveways in "R" zones shall be not less than nine feet six inches in width at any point; provided, however, that fences, hose bibs, sewer cleanouts, utility meters and similar obstructions may protrude not more than six inches into such driveways; and provided further, that said minimum width shall be maintained for a vertical distance of not less than seven feet six inches at any point.
B. 
The following minimum turning radii shall be provided in all "R" zones for a minimum vertical distance of not less than nine feet:

C. 
The minimum clear parking space in any garage in an "R" zone shall be nine feet by eighteen feet six inches for each interior parking space and ten feet by eighteen feet six inches for each exterior parking space where two or more parking spaces are provided in the same building or structure without divided walls, partitions or other means of separation; provided, however, that where such parking space is divided or separated by any wall, partition or other means, or where only one parking space is provided in such building or structure, the minimum clear parking space shall be eleven feet.
D. 
All garage facilities and other provisions for automobile parking space in "R" zones shall be enclosed on at least three sides and shall be equipped with doors where such facilities or parking spaces face any street and are not less than curb grade in elevation; provided, however, that doors shall not be required where such facilities or parking spaces are in a rear yard except on corner lots; and provided further, that where one single-family residence is the only residence on an R-l lot, carports may be substituted in lieu of garages, provided an enclosed area three feet six inches in minimum size is provided for outside storage.
E. 
Garages in R-2, R-3 and R4 zones may be constructed to the property line, provided that any such garage which is less than three feet from the property line shall be of a minimum one-hour fire resistant construction and shall provide a parapet not less than twelve inches in height. The parapet shall have the same fire resistance as the wall itself. Any garage which is attached to the main building shall maintain the same yard requirements as the main building itself.
