CHAPTER 15

212 AIRPORT INFLUENCE AREAS

15.212.01: AIRPORT INFLUENCE AREAS:

   A.   The Airport Influence Areas designated within the County-wide Comprehensive Master Plan (master plan) are intended to promote land use compatibility. The designation recognizes the benefits and potential adverse impacts that may occur within certain distances from general aviation facilities and provides a framework to minimize these impacts as well as protect the safety and efficiency of aircraft operations.
   B.   The purpose is to identify when construction of new development or alteration of existing development requires identification of potential avigation hazards on properties located within airport influence areas as identified in the master plan. (Ord. 638, 11-7-2024)

15.212.02: STRUCTURE HEIGHT LIMITATIONS:

The height limitations within the airport influence areas shall be limited to the maximum as listed in individual zoning districts' development standards listed Chapters 15.310 through 15.316 , inclusive and Chapter 15.330.03 (E).
If a parcel is located within an airport influence area as depicted in the adopted Lyon County Master Plan and a development includes a structure which would propose to exceed thirty-five feet (35') in height above ground level, then the developer shall be required to process a Form 7460-1 with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
