Historical Reference Table

The following table represents an historical profile of the zoning ordinances adopted and amended by the City of Grandview over the years. An attempt has been made, while researching these ordinances, to develop historical references on when particular sections of text were implemented. With respect to older ordinances, it is recommended to consult with the Director of Community Development or the City Planner to compare and determine similarities and origins of specific requirements set out in the zoning ordinance text. The City Clerk's office has microfilm of these ordinances available for viewing.

Zoning maps have also been microfilmed with the other vital records in the City Clerk's office. Community Development should have originals of the maps as revised over the years.

Amendments to the current text of the zoning ordinance have been noted in the correct location in the text.

Notations have also been made in the current text to document amendments over the years. Due to formatting changes with passage of each "major" ordinance, some of the notations might not be exact. References to ordinances older than the current major revision should be used as a general guide to trace the origin of a specific passage. Again, it is recommended to consult with staff in Community Development if you wish to trace a particular section back through the years.

Zoning Board of Adjustment and Planning Commission are mentioned in the ordinance. Created districts A — E, for Residential, Local Business, General Business, Light Industrial and Heavy Industry, respectively. A handwritten note on the ordinance indicates it was repealed by Ordinance 408.
119 6/4/1947 Enacted New Ordinance Provided for appointment of Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment.
173 3/23/1953 Enacted New Ordinance First "Zoning Ordinance" adopted in format similar to current ordinance. This ordinance did not amend or repeal Ordinance 115. Again, there is a reference to a map in the ordinance, but said map is not reflected in the City Clerk's record of filmed documents. New districts A — H were enacted which expanded the number of districts created under Ordinance 115: First Dwelling House, Second Dwelling House, Multiple House, Agricultural, General Business, Local Business, Light Industrial, and Heavy Industrial. Repealed by Ordinance 408.
