SECTION 26

28.- CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY

Sec. 26-28-1.- Required.

No building or structure shall be occupied or used, until a certificate of occupancy has been issued by the building official.

Sec. 26-28-2. - Issuance; for building use.

A certificate of occupancy for a new building or the alteration of an existing building shall be applied for coincident with the application for a building permit and shall be issued within ten (10) days after the erection or alteration of such building shall have been completed, inspected and found in conformity with the provisions of the ordinances, codes and regulations of the city.

Sec. 26-28-3. - Record; filing required, fee.

Certificates of occupancy shall state that the building complies with all the building codes, ordinances and provisions of this chapter. A record of all certificates shall be kept on file in the office of the building official and copies shall be furnished upon request to the public. No fee shall be charged for an original certificate applied for coincident with the application for a building permit.
