ZONING ORDINANCE
TOWNSHIP OF REDFORD
WAYNE COUNTY, MICHIGAN

TITLE

AN ORDINANCE enacted under Act 184, Public Acts of 1943, as amended, governing the unincorporated portions of the Township of Redford, Wayne County, Michigan, to regulate and encourage the proper use of land and natural resources, and to establish zoning districts to provide for the location of, the size of, the uses that may be made of, the minimum open spaces, sanitary, safety, and protective measures that shall be required for, and the maximum number of families that may be housed in dwellings, buildings, structures, and mobile homes, that may be erected or altered after the effective date of this ordinance; to designate the use of certain state licensed residential facilities; to provide for a method for the adoption of amendments; to provide for the acquisition by purchase, condemnation, or otherwise of nonconforming property; to provide for the administration of this Ordinance; to provide for conflicts with other ordinances or regulations; to provide penalties for violations; to provide for the assessment, levy, and collection of taxes; to provide for the collection of fees for zoning permits; to provide for petitions, public hearings, and referenda; to provide for appeals; and to provide for the repeal of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance.

PREAMBLE

Pursuant to the authority conferred by the Public Acts of the State of Michigan, made and provided to regulate the use of land and structures; to meet the needs of the Township residents for food, fiber, energy. and other natural resources, places of residence, recreation, industry, trade, service, and other uses of land; to insure that use of the land shall be situated in appropriate locations and relationships; to limit the inappropriate overcrowding of land and congestion of population, transportation systems, and other public facilities; to facilitate adequate and efficient provision for transportation systems, sewage disposal, water, energy, education, recreation, and other public service and facility requirements; and to promote public health, safety, and welfare; all in accordance with a comprehensive plan; and its goals and objectives, now therefore:

ENACTING CLAUSE

The Township of Redford ordains:

SHORT TITLE

This Ordinance shall be known and may be cited as the Township of Redford Zoning Ordinance.
