The government or G zone is intended to be applied in those areas of the city where it is reasonable to permit governmentally owned (federal, state, county or political subdivision) uses.
17.057.020 Permitted uses.
In the government zone, the following uses are permitted:
A. Public buildings;
B. Schools;
C. Parks, playgrounds;
D. Hospitals;
E. Family care facilities;
F. Public parking lots and garages;
G. Outdoor recreational facilities;
H. Public facilities.
17.057.030 Uses requiring a conditional use permit.
A. All semi-public owned or operated uses by non-profit organizations;
B. Publicly subsidized low-cost housing;
C. Visitor serving commercial uses of publicly owned parcels may be permitted if the land use plan includes site specific standards governing public parking, setbacks, heights of structures, open space, and the mixes of visitor serving uses on the subject parcels. These standards shall be incorporated into the land use plan pursuant to the local coastal program procedure.
D. Other similar uses deemed to be compatible to the G zone by the planning commission.
All permitted and conditionally permitted uses on publicly owned lands shall be limited to those which are: (1) operated on a non-profit basis; (2) provide educational or health care services; or (3) provide recreational or visitor serving opportunities.
