Violations. In the event any sign is found to be in violation of this section, the Zoning Official shall notify the owner of such sign and the owner of the property on which the sign is erected of such violation, and the owner shall within 10 days correct such violation. In the instance of a violation involving a temporary lawn sign erected or maintained in a roadway right-of-way, the owner thereof shall, within two days, correct such violation. Upon failure to comply with the violation notice from the Zoning Officer within the time specified or if the Zoning Officer cannot identify or is unable to contact the owner of the sign after reasonable efforts in that regard, the Zoning Officer is authorized to cause the removal of the sign, and any expense incidental thereto shall be paid by the owner of the sign. The Zoning Officer shall take custody of the sign for a period of one week; and thereafter, the Zoning Officer is authorized to dispose of any sign not claimed by its owner.
